Dentistry From The Heart

We don’t often feature business hosted events on this list, but this one was unique enough to get our attention. If you, or anyone you know, is in need of dental care but can’t get dental care elsewhere, then head to Dr. Matiasevich’s office on Friday morning for the 3rd annual “Dentistry from the Heart” event where you can get a filling, extraction or cleaning.
FREE Friday Night Bands on the Beach: The Edgar Winter Band
When: Friday, 6/26 at 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm
Where: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
How Much: Free
Enjoy the second free Friday Night Band on the Beach this Friday when the Edgar Winter Band (of “Free Ride” fame) comes to town.
Foreverland: An Electrifying 14 Piece Tribute to Michael Jackson
When: Friday, 6/26 at 8:00 pm
Where: Don Quixote’s International Music Hall
How Much: $17-$20
The King of Pop reigns on with Foreverland, a group that has been touring the country since 2009 and offering fans a chance to relive their favorite MJ hits in a whole new way. Santa Cruzans will get to join in the fun this Friday at Don Quixote’s.
Dalai Lama Awakening
When: Friday, 6/26 at 7:30 pm
Where: Rio Theatre
How Much: $15
This film, directed by Khashyar Darvich and narrated by Harrison Ford, is a 15 year cinematic journey following Westerners who travel to India to meet the Dalai Lama in an effort to solve some of the world’s problems.
Silent Disco
When: Saturday, 6/27 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Where: Abbott Square
Check out the Abbott Square makeover and join in a Silent Disco this Saturday. Participants wear headphones to create a silent dance party.
Land of Medicine Buddha Festival & Cultural Fair
When: Saturday, 6/27 at 10:00 am
Where: Land of Medicine Buddha
How Much: Free. On-site parking is $20. Many donation and sponsorship opportunities available.
There’s a good chance you’ve visited Land of Medicine Buddha for a hike, but this is your chance to learn more about LOMB. There will be an 11:00 am procession, dance performances, healing and information booths, and food.
Benefit for Nicole Brown
When: Saturday, 6/27. Lunch 11:30am- 2:30pm, Dinner 5:00- 9:30pm. Auction 12:00 – 8:00.
Where: Sushi Garden
How Much: Donations
Sushi Garden is hosting a benefit fundraiser for Aptos native Nicole Brown, the victim of a horrific hit and run earlier this month. Proceeds from the event will support Nicole’s medical bills.
Pleasure Point Street Fair
When: Saturday, 6/27 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Where: 41st Ave and Portola Dr
How Much: Free
The Pleasure Point Street Fair is only in its third year, but it has already become a community favorite. You’ll find vendors, art, food, a family friendly kid-zone, a beer and wine garden, live music and much more.
21st Annual Woodies on the Wharf

The 21st annual Woodies on the Wharf comes to town this weekend. Check out over 200 wood-bodied cars, many in perfect condition, out on the Santa Cruz Wharf. Be sure to stay to the end for the parade off the wharf.
Santa Cruz Derby Girls Home Team Championships
When: Saturday, 6/27 at 6:30 pm
Where: Civic Auditorium

The Steamer Janes take on the Redwood Rebels in the Santa Cruz Derby Girls home team championship this Saturday.
17th Ave Studios Opening Pop Up!

Hop N’ Barley Beer and BBQ Festival

The 6th Hop N’ Barley Festival brings over 50 breweries to Skypark in Scotts Valley. There will be live music on two stages, food, beer games, and lots of fun for the whole family.
Sunday Art & Music at the Beach
When: Sunday, 6/28 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm
Where: Capitola Beach
How Much: Free
Taking place at Esplanade Park, which overlooks Capitola Beach and the Monterey Bay, Capitola’s Art & Music at the Beach is a great place to check out local artwork and jewelry while taking in some great music.
