Some brand new events will hit the scene this weekend such as holiday ice skating at the Boardwalk, a hot dog eating contest and a newly crafted local root beer making its debut.
There is also a paddle out to clean up our important waterways, one of the most popular vintage and antique fairs around, and plenty of unique performances and presentations that will appeal to any style.

Friday
Jewel Theatre Presents: Always… Patsy Cline
When: 11/10 & 11/11 at 8:00 pm & 11/12 at 2:00 pm. Runs through Dec. 3. in
Where: The Colligan Theater
Cost: $42/$48
Based on the true story of legendary singer Patsy Cline and the friendship she developed with a fan a few years before her tragic death in 1963. A musical production with true emotion as well as humor. Includes peformances of many of Patsy Cline’s hits.
Reel Rock 12 Santa Cruz
When: 11/10 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Where: Rio Theatre
Cost: $20
A series of five short films that will have you on the edge of your seat. The film series features some of the best rock climbing stars and full action footage of their thrilling, inspiring and sometimes humorous adventures.
SODA PARTY – Release of Alden’s Radical Redwood Rootbeer
When: 11/10 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Where: Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing
Cost: Free
Family son, Alden, came up with an idea for a house root beer. After three years of careful work, it’s ready to roll. Come and celebrate this latest brew with a taste straight from the bottle or in a root beer float. Live music by Take 1 starts at 7pm.
Madagascar Jr. Presented by Theatre in the Mountains
When: 11/10 @ 7:00 pm, 11/11 at 1:00 pm & 7:00 pm, 11/12 @ 1:00 pm
Where: Loma Prieta Community Center
Cost: $11 – $12
Bring the entire family for a performance based on the DreamWorks movie about a brilliant escape from a New York Central Park Zoo that leads a group of animal friends on an unexpected journey to Madagascar.
Paddle Cleanup with Kayak Connection
When: 11/10 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Where: Kayak Connection at Moss Landing, 2370 CA-1 Moss Landing, CA 95039
Cost: Free
Bring your kayak, canoe or paddleboard and help Save Our Shores clean up debris in the waterways and along the shoreline. If you don’t own a watercraft, no problem. Kayaks will be provided for volunteers.
Scotts Valley Food Truck Friday
When: 11/10 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: Scotts Valley Skypark
Start the holiday weekend off at the last Food Truck Friday of the season where Veterans will be honored with a special seating and community thank you. You can also nominate a Veteran you know to receive a complimentary dinner and dessert at this event. Featured food trucks include Saucey’z, Lindsey’s Palate Pleasures, Drunk Monkeys, and Aunt LaLi’s Mobile Cafe.

A Veteran’s Day Exposition

Where: Pajaro Valley Historical Association
In honor of Veteran’s Day, the Pajaro Valley Historical Association is hosting an exposition of vintage American military uniforms from past wars. There will also be photos, artifacts, and other memorabilia on display.
Tom Petty and the Heart Broken – A Musical Tribute for Hurricane Relief

A tribute to the life and music of Tom Petty as Bay Area all-star musicians are lined up for this musical dedication. The proceeds from this event will go to fire, hurricane and earthquake relief.
Boardwalk Holiday Ice Skating at the Beach
When: 11/11 through 1/2. Fri-Sun from 12 pm – 9 pm & Mon-Thur from 4 pm – 9 pm
Where: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Cost: $12
A new holiday tradition is coming to the Boardwalk…ice skating! The new 40’x 60’ covered rink of real ice will be open rain or shine thru the holiday season. Grab a partner or two and venture out onto the ice!
Segway Santa Cruz First Annual Amateur Hotdog Eating Contest
When: 11/11 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Where: Segway Santa Cruz
Cost: $10 entry fee
Think you can eat more hotdogs than anyone in Santa Cruz County? Here’s your chance to prove it at the first installment of this annual contest. If hot dogs aren’t your thing, come on down to cheer on the participants.
Goat Hill Fair – Unique Antique and Artisan Fair
When: 11/11 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm & 11/12 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Where: Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds

This popular fair returns as the best quality antique and vintage items will be on display at this juried artisan show. Booths will be spread across three buildings at the fairgrounds. Open rain or shine for a weekend of treasure hunting.
Sin Sisters Burlesque Slumber Party

A fun evening of burlesque with a slumber party theme. Dress for the occasion in your pajama onesies. All acts will be based on tv, movies, video games or onesies. 21 years and older.
