The first weekend of each month always brings plenty of fun activities, typically highlighted by First Friday.
This weekend also brings the new musical “Lunch” to the Cabrillo Stage, a couple Warriors home games, some good local music, and more.

Lunch
When: Jan. 3 – Jan. 19
Lunch, a musical comedy, opens this weekend at the Cabrillo Stage.
The musical centers around a Wall Street specialist who, upon dying, learns that he won’t be able to reach the Gates of Eternity until he works “The Lunch Shift.”

The Coffis Brothers and the Mountain Men
When: Friday, Jan. 3
The Coffis Brothers and the Mountain Men hail from right here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. They spent much of the past year touring, and recently concluded a successful kickstarter campaign.
They’re back home and they’re bringing their folk rock tunes to Don Quixote’s tonight.

Fun-A-Day
When: all month, with a kick-off party during First Friday
The Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History is hosting their 10th annual “Fun-A-Day” project throughout January, with a kick-off event during their Free First Friday. Fun-A-Day is a community art project in which participants pick a project and work on it every day for a month.

Santa Cruz Warriors
When: Friday, Jan. 3 & Saturday, Jan. 4
The Santa Cruz Warriors are home this weekend, hosting Reno on Friday, and Canton on Saturday. Come out and cheer on the tallest men in town.
Wilder Ranch Coast Nature Walk
When: Saturday, Jan. 4
Enjoy a two hour walk through Wilder Ranch, where you’ll get to explore the plants, animals, and geology of the coastal bluffs. This is an easy 2.5 mile hike.
First Friday (and Saturday) Events
Everyone loves Fridays, but here in Santa Cruz we really love the first Friday of each month. Here are a few of the gems you will find today on the first Friday in January:
