28th Annual Santa Cruz PaddleFest
When: Friday, 3/28 – Sunday, 3/30
The best paddle surfers in the world will be in Santa Cruz this weekend to compete in the 28th Annual Santa Cruz PaddleFest. Competitors in kayaks, wave skis and stand-up paddle (SUP) boards will flock to Steamer Lane throughout the weekend, and Cowells on Saturday for the SurfTech Surf and Sand Duel-Athlon SUP Race.

The Sound of Music
When: Friday, 3/28 – Sunday, 3/30
The hills are alive with the sound of…
You know the song, you know the story, now come on out and see it performed live at Carbrillo’s Crocker Theater. This is the last weekend of the production by the Christian Youth Theatre of Santa Cruz. The musical is performed by students ages 4-18.

Holi Festival
When: Saturday, 3/29
If you want to make a mess with vibrant colors, and have a blast doing so, then you won’t want to miss the Holi Festival at the MAH. The Holi Festival is a Hindu tradition marking the beginning of Spring. The event is known for its bursts of vibrant colors as participants throw colored powder into the sky.

James Durbin: Conversations with Creative Heroes
When: Saturday, 3/29
James Durbin will take the stage at the Cabrillo Samper Recital Hall on Saturday, but he won’t be there to sing. Instead he will be joined by Sentinel Entertainment Editor, Wallace Bain. This is a unique opportunity to see an intimate live interview with Durbin.

Spirit of ’76 Grateful Dead Tribute Show
When: Saturday, 3/29
The Spirit of ’76 isn’t your average tribute band, and this isn’t your average tribute show. Instead of rolling out a standard collection of greatest hits, this show will be a faithful recreation of the show the Dead played on July 16th, 1976, at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco.
