This weekend will have a lot to offer in the way of affordable entertainment in Santa Cruz, from film and music to museums and festivals. The highlight of the weekend is the 12th annual Santa Cruz Film Festival, which runs through Sunday evening.
Here are our picks for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday’s best bets:
Santa Cruz Film Festival
The Santa Cruz Film Festival has made some changes this year under the guidance of new Director, Jeff Ross. For one, it has been pushed to November, when the cool fall weather lends itself to cozying up inside your favorite movie theatre. The festival kicked off on Thursday and runs through Sunday.
Events, in addition to the films, include:
- Roller Disco Party – A retro Roller Disco Party Friday night at the Santa Cruz Palladium.
- Big Lebowski Party – Enjoy mini bowling, white russions and a costume contest at the Pacific Arts Complex on Saturday night as The Big Lebowski plays all night in the screening room.
- Closing Night Party – Sunday night at the Crepe Place, featuring live music from Girls+Boys and Sad Robot.
