Santa Cruz Surf Film Festival

In a town known for its surf culture, you’re sure to appreciate this collection of short films showcasing surfing around the world. Fantastic footage with beautiful locations, personal tales and daring, athletic feats await!
Choose Santa Cruz Pop up Market @ Cosmic Design

If you choose Santa Cruz, you’ll want to choose this Pop-up Market to kick off your Friday night. This event celebrates life in Santa Cruz and features products and services from local businesses, including Hive and Hum, Childish, and Agency. You’ll also get first dibs on the Choose Santa Cruz coloring book featuring classic Santa Cruz sights.
Louden Nelson Center MURAL Celebration & Public Art Walking tour!
When: 10/7 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
Where: Laurel Park
Cost: Free
Celebrate the renovation of a spectacular mural at the Louden Nelson Center. Scheduled speakers include the mural artist and local mural muses as well as the mayor who’ll tell you a bit about the center’s history. Free refreshments on hand. Following the speakers’ series, you’re sure to enjoy a stroll around downtown to gander at the myriad of public art.
Garden Railroad Open House
When: 10/7 from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Where: Fern Creek and Western Garden Railroad: 419 Ocean View Ave.

All aboard! Don’t miss this unique opportunity to view working model trains in a garden setting filled with scale plants and structures. There will be snacks and beverages for people to enjoy while watching the trains.

The Boardroom International Surfboard Show

Kaiser Permanente Arena will be chock-full of surf gear and surfing community. Come down and gawk at the latest accessories, craftsmanship and technology. Besides exhibits, there will be demos, seminars and deals to be had.
22nd Annual Lobster Feed – SOLD OUT
When: 10/8 from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Where: Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park
Cost: General Ticket:$75, VIP Ticket:$100
Lobster in the redwoods? Why not! A ticket to the the 22nd Annual Lobster Feed Fundraiser will get you a 1.5 lb. fresh Maine lobster along with corn-on-the-cob, garlic bread, salad, dessert and coffee. Can you say yum for a good cause? Highway One supplies bluegrass tunes ambiance. Sounds like a good night to us!
Open Studios Art Tour Weekend Two
When: 10/8 – 10/9 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Cost: Free
Open Studios is an invitation into the creative workspaces of local artists throughout the county. Plot your own self-guided tour or simply follow the green signs around town. This weekend showcases North county artists. If you missed South County artists last weekend, stay tuned for Encore Weekend October 15th & 16th.
Hard Core Cider Tour: Santa Cruz

Hard cider lovers, head on down to San Lorenzo Park for an afternoon of unlimited craft cider sampling. Food trucks, live music, and jumbo lawn games complete this cider celebration. As part of their commitment to reinvesting in the local community, The Hard Core Cider Tour will be raising funds for Life Lab.
Thomas and Percy’s Halloween Party

Come celebrate local farm-based community with fresh artisan food, local wines and live music. Food preservation demos will teach you how to make sauerkraut and pickle veggies. Feeling crafty? Bring a shirt to make a screen print. There will also be a hand-blown pumpkin patch to peruse.
Welcome Back Monarchs Day!

Every year at this time, the Monarch butterflies return to Natural Bridges State Park. You will also start to see the bright, beautiful creatures all over town. This event celebrates their arrival with arts and crafts, kids’ games, live music, pumpkin ice cream and lots of info about the butterflies.
Monte Foundation 22nd Anniversary Fireworks Extravaganza
