EARTH DAY SANTA CRUZ 2018

Come and enjoy a fun environmental celebration for the whole family! Event highlights include activities for kids, live music, sustainable food vendors and a beer garden, a recycled fashion show, electric vehicle showcase, and plenty of green business vendor booths.
2018 March for Science
When: 4/21 at 10:00 am
Where: Assemble at Santa Cruz City Hall
Santa Cruz joins the March for Science rally starting at Santa Cruz City Hall at 10:00 am with speakers and live music. From there, the march will proceed through Downtown, along the Riverwalk, and over to San Lorenzo Park for the community’s Earth Day Festival.
Exploring the San Lorenzo River: Earth Day BioBlitz
When: 4/21 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Where: Tannery Arts Center, (Riparian corridor behind bldg.)
Cost: Free, all ages, pre-registration required
Kick off Earth Day off with a morning walk along the San Lorenzo River and a chance to be a citizen scientist. Participating in a BioBlitz means you will help make observations and identify organisms in an attempt to record all the living species in this area.
Earth Day Beach Cleanups
When: 4/21 & 4/22
Where: Beaches throughout Santa Cruz County
Cost: Free
Join Save Our Shores for one of Monterey Bay’s largest cleanup efforts, from Panther State Beach to Hidden Beach and in between, including the San Lorenzo River Levee. In partnership with with California State Parks Foundation, there will also be cleanup events at Lighthouse Field, Seabright, and Natural Bridges State Beaches. There will be 50 organizations and community services joining together at the event, each with booths offering fun activities for kids and information about local resources. There will also be a number of local children and teen musical and dance acts to enjoy on the main stage, affordable food options, raffle prizes, and bounce houses!
Celebrate Earth Day at Hive & Hum
When: 4/22 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm
Where: Hive & Hum, 415-B River St.
Buzz on by for Hive & Hum’s Earth Day celebration! Meet earth-loving makers and artists and shop a variety of trunk shows featuring Upcycled Skate Art, Gypsy Vine Candles, Santa Cruz Bee Company, RetroXO, and nature-inspired art by McKella Jo. What’s more family friendly than racing 12,000 rubber ducks down a slip ‘n’ slide? You kind of have to see it to believe it. Carnival games, prizes, food, and entertainment will round out the day at Omega Nu’s 28th Annual Ducky Derby. All money raised goes to scholarships and charities in Santa Cruz.
