Naturalist-led Santa Cruz backpacking tours are being offered again this year by California State Parks, from June through August. These 2-3 night trips offer the classic Santa Cruz backpacking experience, with the added bonus of being led by a knowledgeable State Park professional.

There are three backpacking trips to choose from, some of which take you through lesser known portions of our state parks.

This Weekend in Santa Cruz: December 21st – 23rd, 2018

Our roundup of events is lighter than usual this weekend, with traditional holiday events taking center stage.

Also sharing the spotlight is Mother Nature and the California King Tides. No, that’s not a band name (that we know of). Extreme high and low tides are coming this Saturday and Sunday—with the extreme lows providing perfect tidepooling conditions.

This Weekend in Santa Cruz: Nov. 30th – Dec. 2nd, 2018

Some of our favorite local holiday traditions take place this weekend, rain or shine.

Saturday’s a biggie—we’ll be in our usual spot for the Downtown Holiday Parade and bundle up later for the Lighted Boat Parade, plus we’ll squeeze in some local holiday shopping in between.
