Holidays

Santa Cruz knows how to celebrate holidays, as is evidenced by the massive influx of visitors with each major holiday. HIghlights include 4th of July in Santa Cruz, Halloween, and the Christmas holidays.
 

Recurring Events

Santa Cruz is home to some great recurring events. The First Friday of each month is an art lover's dream, while bargain hunters love the Santa Cruz Antique Faire, held the first Sunday of each month.
 
During the summer months you can enjoy weekly outdoor events like the Wednesday night Movies on the Beach, Thursday night Beach Parties at the Crow's Nest, Friday Night Bands on the Beach, Sunday Art & Music in Capitola, and many more.
 

Annual Events

Over the years Santa Cruz, Capitola, and the surrounding communities have developed some amazing annual events. Summer is the unofficial event season, but you can find great events year round.
 
Favorites include Woodies on the Wharf, the Capitola Rod & Custom Classic Car Show, the Wharf to Wharf Race, the newly added Pleasure Point Street Fair, Begonia Festival, Capitola Art & Wine Festival, Restaurant Week, the Santa Cruz County Fair, the Santa Cruz Open Studios Art Tour, Santa Cruz Film Festival, the Santa Cruz Greek Festival, and Santa Cruz TEDx. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Friday

Beehive, The 60s Musical

When: 6/27 – 7/14 at 7:30 pm &  Sundays at 2:00 pm
Where: Cabrillo Crocker Theater
Cost: $21 to $46

This musical performance showcases the perspective of six young women who all came of age in the 1960s. Times were changing and women in this country faced many challenges. Hit songs of the time such as My Boyfriend’s Back, Proud Mary, Natural Woman and more will help highlight the many changes of the decade.

Everclear

When: 6/28 at 6:30 pm & 8:30 pm
Where: Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Cost: Free

The summer Free Friday Night Bands on the Beach concert series continues this week with alternative rock band Everclear. Head out to the Boardwalk for two live performances and sing along to their smash hits such as Santa Monica, I Will Buy You a New Life, Father of Mine and more!

The Radical Zine Reading and Art Show Night

When: 6/28 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Where: Resource Center for Nonviolence
Cost: Free; donations welcome

The Resource Center for Nonviolence will be hosting a reading and art show to launch their third issue of the Radical Zine titled All Walls will Crumble. The evening includes readings from contributors, musical performances, and an open mic session. Support local talent at the art table with displays of art, zines, and prints for sale.

A Decade of Dance, Drum and Dissent

Duniya Dance and Drum Company performs a wide range of their contemporary repertoire at this unique musical event. Bhagra, Bollywood, Dancehall, Afro-Pop, West African dance, spoken-word and more will be featured. Explore history and present-day activism through these moving performances.

Where: Midtown – Soquel, from Pine through Seabright

Summer fun in Midtown this Saturday! Join Home/Work as they celebrate their 4th anniversary. Many surrounding shops will be participating in the festivities down Soquel Ave. from Pine St. to Seabright. Take in some trunk shows, food trucks, tea and chocolate tastings, and loads of summer sales.

CAPITOLA SUNDAY ART AND MUSIC AT THE BEACH
